The Plaza

Introducing The Plaza: A New Vision for Main Street

The Luther Historical Society is excited to announce an ambitious new project: The Plaza. This transformative initiative aims to turn an open pocket on Main Street, which currently houses a small Veterans Memorial, into a vibrant and welcoming space for the entire community.

About The Plaza

The Plaza is designed to be a showpiece for Luther, featuring beautifully landscaped green spaces, inviting picnic areas, a performance stage, and a monument that honors the brave men and women who have served in the United States military. Our vision is to create a communal area where residents and visitors can gather, relax, and celebrate our town’s heritage and the service of our veterans.

Honoring Our History

The Plaza will be located on a piece of land generously donated by the Morgan & Hayes family. This site holds historical significance as the location of their family store, which was a staple in the community until it was tragically destroyed by a fire in the 1970s. By transforming this space, we not only create a new community centerpiece but also honor the legacy of the Morgan & Hayes family and their contributions to Luther’s history.

Veterans Monument: A prominent monument will pay tribute to the courageous men and women who have served in the U.S. military, ensuring their sacrifices are remembered and honored.

Picnic Area: Convenient and comfortable picnic spots will encourage family gatherings, social events, and casual outings.

Stage Area: A versatile stage will host community events, performances, and ceremonies, bringing entertainment and cultural enrichment to Main Street.
